Greetings Paddle Sports Community,

We hope you are all doing well. Despite the amazing weather and beautiful ocean conditions, the virus continues to be a highly contagious threat to our health as a community. The one thing that is most certain during these unusual times, is how quickly things are changing and how difficult it is to find trustworthy information.

We’re doing our best to stay informed with factual information and make decisions accordingly.

So here is what we know about re-opening. Based on our business, we fall into the following two categories;

  1. Sporting Goods – Retail Store
  2. Aquatics Center/Fitness Center

Today Gov. Newsom announced the beginning of Phase 2 to re-open some business in the State of California.

Bookstores, music stores, toy stores, sporting goods stores, clothing stores and florists can reopen for curbside pickup.” La Times May 7, 2020

When the state issues guidance, it is disseminated to each individual county and that is the level at which local businesses. like Paddle Sports, are required to comply. So each county is responsible for opening types/categories of businesses or keeping them closed. This is why you may see businesses like ours in CA open, when we remain closed.

At this time, only one category of our business is permitted to open with limited capacity. We anticipate a 2nd part of phase 2 coming in the next few weeks and we hope that “Aquatics Centers” will fall into this phase.

After much consideration it is our decision to remain closed until we can open for retail AND rentals. We feel this is the best decision in keeping our staff and community healthy and happy and keeping financial resources available for a partial reopening which will require many new components and reduce our capacity significantly.

This page will be updated as we are given more guidance on how to operate our business.

Thank you for your support… be well,

PSC Team Manager
